Superchips Off Road Racing - Cody Rahders

Cody Rahders Takes Home Multiple Victories to Close Out 2012!

In the final race of the regular season Cody Rhaders dominated Round 15 of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series, at Firebird Raceway October 27, leading the race wire to wire to collect his second win of the season.  During practice, Cody set second fastest lap and during the qualifier he placed third.  With the start inverted four positions Cody was placed in the outside position of row one for the start.

Cody was briefly challenged by the pole setter but a quick inside/outside move had him leading by two car lengths going into turn two where he would continually pull away until the mid-race caution. At the restart Cody once again pulled away from the pack and went unchallenged leading by nearly ½ a straight away at the checkers.  “My truck was so dialed and hooked up that I was able to drive my own race and let everyone behind me fight for second place. Days like this don’t come often but when they do they sure are fun and a great way to the season.”

For Sundays' Cup race, Cody started outside row two and was in the lead by the end of the first lap and at the start of lap two the second place truck cut across turn one and through the front of Cody’s truck.  The resulting contact moved him from first to fourth.  By the middle of lap three Cody had moved back into second and was passing the leader when the two trucks drifted into each other over the ski jump out of turn two. Codys truck rolled over to its right while in the air and when it hit the ground it rolled an additional four times effectively ending his race.

“Well it wasn’t supposed to go like that, I ran my line and paid for leaving the door open that’s for sure, I got plowed then I wrecked. My truck was strong….just disappointed it ended like that. Considering that we weren’t going to race this year we finished 6th in points and got four podiums and two wins...I think we did pretty good.”  Rahders' season was a tremendous successe with multiple victories in various classes and sanctioned races.  Cody took home 3 championships and finished 6th in an extemely competitive Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series that he was not even expecting to race in for 2012.  Superchips would like to congratulate Cody of a fantastic season!

2012 WORCS & Lucas Oil Off Road Updates

AUGUST 30, 2012

Cody Rahders Captures First Career Victory in the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing SuperLite Series!

Saturday: Having set the fastest lap in both practices and qualifying 2nd for Saturday's main event, the leaders were inverted six positions for the start, placing Cody inside row three. As the race got underway by the end of lap one Cody had moved into second place and midway through lap two he moved to the front. Cody then was unchallenged until lap seven when at the top of turn one he bicycled the truck, this miscue allowed second place to close the gap and briefly pass Cody before turn two.  Midway through turn three Cody had already navigated his Superchips rig back to the lead for the mid race caution.  The pack was gathered up for the restart and Cody jumped on the green flag where he quickly pulled out to a 4 second lead then maintained that gap to the checkers for his first Pro win in the SuperLite class.  “Adrian at Toyo Tires told us the crowd loves the bicycle so I gave them what they wanted.” Said Cody, “When that truck stood up I slowed down, pulled it back, then got back into the race. You can’t win if you don’t finish and losing a position while saving a crash is better than rolling any day.”  Superchips sends our congrats to Cody and R3 Motorsports!

Sunday:  Leaders were inverted four positions for the main event putting Cody in the second row inside for the start. The green flag flew and Cody moved from fourth to second by turn two where both he and the leader quickly put one second on the pack.  What was shaping up to be a great battle never happened as halfway through lap three Cody’s truck slowed to a crawl with a broken left axle.  “Well, I thought we were going to have a battle till that happened, I could tell something was going away but I really didn’t know what it was until the SuperLite mechanics in the hot pits told me we lost an axle, sometimes that’s how it goes. I very happy with my win yesterday and can’t wait for Vegas, I love Vegas!”

AUGUST 12, 2012

Cody Rahders wins Round 7 of the WORCS Production 700 class in his Superchips sponsored Polaris RZR570.

With 27 racers total entered in the combined Production 700/850 race Cody lined up tied in points but leading the points chase by virtue of one more win than his competitor in second place. When the green flag flew for his line he pulled the Superchips rig to the front of the field. At the first big uphill he was briefly past by second place but by the end of the first lap he was in 6th place overall and leading the Production 700 class by 5 seconds. As the race wore on, Cody continued to pick off cars from the 850 class and by lap two he moved into 5th place overall. By lap 3 he was in 4th and at the end of the 40 minute race he finished 1st overall in the Production 700 class and 3rdoverall in the Production 700/850 classes combined. Cody now leads the championship point’s chase in the Production 700 class by 8 going into the final round!

Cody headed back to Glen Helen to compete in Rounds 9 & 10 of LOORRS in his Superchips/K&N/Black Rhino SuperLite Championship race truck and after qualifying second by .012 seconds the day before he was lined up in row two inside. Cody and the leader checked out on the field until lap eight where he suffered a blow out in the right rear, his second of the weekend. After it was changed he re-entered the race one lap down in 12th place. At the restart, Cody began working his way up through the pack moving from 12th place to finish the night in 6th

Suffering flat tires at Glen Helen, Miller Motorsports Park, Speed World, and Lake Elsinore Cody went looking for help and Toyo Tires stepped up in a big way supplying him with a new set of tires for his SuperLite.

For Sunday night Cody was again lined up inside row two and by lap four had a commanding lead thanks to the new found traction with Toyo Tires, one that he would stretch out to over 1 second by the mid-race caution. After the restart Cody pulled away but with a late race wreck a green/white/checker restart was in order. As the green flew he bicycled the truck in turn two and went from first to fourth. He then managed to get back into second on the white flag lap but at the top of turn four ended up spinning out and finishing seventh for the night.
